January Trailer Orders Plummet From December

After peaking in December, U.S. trailer orders took a nosedive in January, reportedly dropping nearly 58 percent.

24,300 units were sold in the first month of the year, according to a Feb. 20 ACT Research report. This comes on the heels of the second-highest sales month ACT has recorded.

However, the January sales were only down 9 percent compared to January 2022, read the report.

“Demand overall remains strong, and cancellations are low, but we are hearing that some orders are being made to replenish dealer stock, rather than going directly to fleet customers,” stated Jennifer McNealy, ACT’s director of CV market research and publications.
