Report: 2022 Trailer Orders Peak in December
U.S. trailer orders in December reached their highest count of the year, according to one report.
57,300 units were sold in the month, according to a Jan. 18 ACT Research report. That’s a 46 percent increase from November and a whopping 115 percent above December 2021 sales.
Jennifer McNealy, ACT’s director of CV market research and publications, said the year “went out like a lion,” with 57,300 being the second-highest month of sales since ACT started keeping track in 1996.
“The year closed with 361,500 net orders placed, exceeding the previous year’s 249,400 level,” stated Jennifer McNealy, ACT’s director of CV market research and publications. “Approximately 306k trailers were built in 2022, and our projections point to a continuation of that upward trend into 2023.”
McNealy did note that concerns surrounding the supply chain do still exist and “most trailer makers continue to see demand exceeding capacity through the end of 2023.”
