Diesel Resumes Modest Price Drops
Diesel prices are back on the downswing this week, dipping more than a cent from last week’s rare price spike.
A report from the Energy Information Administration shows prices fell 1.4 cents to $3.801 per gallon.
This drop was reflected in all five regions of the country, with the Gulf Coast dropping the most — 2.2 cents — to close the week at $3.51. Ironically, Gulf Coast prices rose the most the week prior.
Next up was the West Coast, where diesel costs fell a more modest 1.7 cents to reach 4.415 a gallon. On the East Coast, diesel closed out at $3.853, a 1.3-cent drop from last week.
Rocky Mountain prices fell exactly one cent to $4.022 per gallon, while Midwest diesel fell only half a cent to $3.734.
Nationwide, a gallon of diesel costs $1.982 less than it did a year ago.
