USPS Reaches Agreement with Union
The U.S. Postal Service and the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) have come to a consensus on a tentative deal.
The collective bargaining agreement for city letter carriers will now be voted on by NALC members, of which there are over 200,000, over the next several weeks, according to a release. The terms of the deal will not take effect unless it is ratified.
Running from May 20, 2023, through Nov. 7, 2026, the agreement would retroactively apply two 1.3 percent raises to those carriers, with another planned for Nov. 22, 2025. Cost of living adjustments are also scheduled throughout the 42 months of the agreement, as well as several other modifications and changes in various contract terms.
NALC President Brian L. Renfroe stated the union was “pleased to reach a fair agreement” after “20 months of tireless negotiations.” On the USPS side, Deputy Postmaster General and Chief Human Resources Officer Doug Tulino stated that “this is a fair and responsible agreement that serves the best interest of our employees, our customers and the future of the Postal Service.”
