USPS Plans S&DC in Pompano Beach

A new Sorting & Delivery Center (S&DC) location has been announced by the U.S. Postal Service: Pompano Beach, Florida.

The center is planned to start operations in January of 2024, according to an email sent by Charlie Cash, industrial relations director with the American Postal Workers Union (APWU). The notice also states that five “spoke” offices will be folded into the S&DC.

The five affected offices aren’t named in the email, which incorrectly identifies Pompano Beach as being in California. The website Save the Post Office first reported the news.

Cash’s email also contains a letter from USPS to the APWU listing other S&DCs that are planned to open June 1, 2024. Those locations, listed alphabetically by city, are:

  • Beaverton, Oregon

  • Boston, Massachusetts

  • Fort Lauderdale, Florida

  • Hicksville, New York

  • Kalamazoo, Michigan

  • Lakeland, Florida
