Used Class 8 Sales Spike In March
Sales of used Class 8 trucks saw a big increase from February to March, according to a new report.
The number of trucks sold rose 18 percent month-over-month, according to a State of the Industry report from ACT Research. The average price rose as well, by four percent, with average miles and age falling 5 and 2 percent, respectively.
Steve Tam, ACT vice president, said that while sales normally increase in March, the increase is usually smaller, around 12 percent.
“The litmus test will come next month, with history indicating sales typically decrease around 10% from March,” Tam stated.
When compared to March 2022, sales are down 13 percent, with the average price being 24 percent lower. Average miles are up slightly, while average age fell a bit.
