Trump Pauses Infrastructure Act with Executive Order
Federal agencies have been ordered to stop dispersing funds based on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 and the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.
In a Jan. 20 executive order, President Donald Trump instructed relevant agencies to “review their processes, policies and programs for issuing grants, loans, contracts or any other financial disbursement of such appropriated funds.”
The 2021 law earmarked funds for numerous transportation- and infrastructure-related projects, while the 2022 law had a greater focus on clean energy.
Each affected agency will have 90 days to submit a report to the Office of Management and Budget and the National Economic Council; those two agencies will decide if any further money earmarked under those laws is dispersed.
The executive order specifically references halting funds for electric vehicle charging stations.
