Trucking Industry Added Jobs in November

The trucking industry grew by 2,900 jobs in November, according to federal statistics.

There were approximately 1.548 million seasonally adjusted jobs in the sector during the month, according to a Dec. 6 Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report

Compared to Nov. 2023, a slight drop-off can be observed: at that time, there were 1.55 million seasonally adjusted jobs in trucking.

The overall transportation industry also saw a bump in November, adding around 3,400 jobs during the month. Trucking was the second-highest growing subsector contributing to that growth, only lagging “support activities for transportation,” which grew by 3,000 jobs.

In the bigger picture, the total unemployment rate marginally increased to 4.2 percent, according to BLS, with total nonfarm payroll employment rising by 227,000.
