Truck Parking Bill Introduced In House, Senate

A new bill to expand truck parking availability has been introduced in both houses of Congress.

The Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act would establish a “short-term authorization of funds to increase truck parking capacity” and “improve existing truck parking infrastructure,” according to a release.

The bipartisan bill was introduced in Congress by senators Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) and Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.). The companion House bill was backed by Reps. Mike Bost (R-Ill.) and Angie Craig (D-Minn.).

“By expanding access to parking options for truckers, we are making our roads safer for all commuters and ensuring that goods and supplies are shipped to market in the most efficient way possible,” stated Bost in the release.

A similar bill was introduced in the previous congress, where it advanced through the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, but never received a floor vote.
