Thousands of Trucks, Drivers Get Pulled by Inspectors
Inspectors with the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) pulled more than 12,000 trucks and over 3,700 drivers out of service over a three-day period.
59,026 inspections were performed from May 17-19 in the U.S., Canada and Mexico combined, with 12,456 commercial motor vehicles and 3,714 drivers taken out of service due to violations, according to the organization.
In the U.S., the group conducted 33,196 Level I Inspections during the period, removing 7,912 commercial motor vehicles and 2,051 drivers from service.
The top violations, in descending order, were:
brake systems
tires
defective service brakes
lights
unsecured cargo
This year’s numbers are notably higher than for the 2021 campaign, when 6,710 vehicles and 2,080 drivers were taken out of service across North America.
