Survey: Drivers Seek Parking, Clean Showers at Truck Stops

A recent survey of truckers on what they look for at a truck stop had a clear-cut winner: plentiful parking. 

Just over 86 percent of survey respondents listed parking as their top choice, according to a survey by Trucker Path, which asked truck drivers to pick their top three amenities from a list of 13. 

Clean showers came in second, garnering 67.5 percent of the vote, and an on-site restaurant ranked third, placing on 46.6 percent of the ballots. 

The rest of the list was: 

• Fresh food (40.7 percent) 

• 24/7 maintenance services (29.2 percent) 

• High-speed fuel pumps (27 percent) 

• Wi-Fi (21.9 percent) 

• Laundry (20 percent) 

• Lounge (14.9 percent) 

• Pet friendly (13.5 percent) 

• Gym (10.6 percent) 

• Security guard (10 percent) 

• Self-checkout (8.6 percent)
