Reports: Trailer, Used Truck Sales See November Dip

November sales numbers for both used Class 8 trucks and trailers showed a fall from October.

Used Class 8 truck sales were down 19 percent month over month, according to data from ACT Research, which produced both reports. That data also showed a 3 percent month-over-month decline in average price, a 2 percent increase in age and a 1 percent decrease in average mileage.

“Used truck sales typically see a meaningful fall off in November when compared with October, so the decline was in line with expectations,” stated Steve Tam, vice president at ACT.

Year-over-year statistics showed an increase in average price, miles and age.

A separate ACT report showed a 17 percent decrease in November trailer sales from October, with a total of 39,950 units purchased. Year-over-year, orders are up 22 percent.

November was the second-highest sales month for trailers so far in 2022, behind only the preceding month.
