Report: Trucking Jobs Up in January

The trucking industry added 3,800 jobs in January, according to federal statistics. 

There were approximately 1.52 million seasonally adjusted jobs in truck transportation during the month, according to a Feb. 10 Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) report

Year over year, trucking jobs are down, as the number sat at 1.53 million in January 2024. 

Overall transportation sector jobs increased by 1,100 in January, according to the report. Trucking had the second highest growth of any subsector, sitting behind the 4,100-job growth of “transit and ground passenger transportation.” On the negative side, the largest drop was observed in “warehousing and jobs,” which lost 4,600 jobs. 

The total unemployment rate fell to 4 percent, according to BLS, with total nonfarm payroll employment rising by 143,000.
