Report: Large Truck Fatalities Down in Q1

The number of fatal crashes involving large trucks fell by over 100 in the first quarter of 2023, reads a new report. 

There were 1,006 of those crashes from January to March of 2023, down from 1,175 in the same span of 2022, according to preliminary data from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. 

Those 2023 fatalities stemmed from a total of 38,281 crashes involving large trucks, which are those with gross weight-ratings over 10,000 pounds. 

During the first quarter, 16,501 people were injured in crashes with large trucks, down 1.4 percent from the first quarter of 2022.
