NSRMCA Nominates Matheson, AJR for Environmental Award
The National Star Route Mail Contractors Association (NSRMCA) — which represents the interests of transportation firms that contract with the U.S. Postal Service — is pleased to announce that it has nominated two postal contractors for the 2022 Top Green Fleets award.
NSRMCA has nominated Matheson and AJR Trucking — both California-based carriers —for the environmentally-minded award, which is given annually by Heavy Duty Trucking. The award honors truck fleets that promote sustainability through the use of electric vehicles, alternative and renewable fuels, cleaner-burning engines, fuel efficiency, freight efficiency, green facilities, and by testing new sustainable technologies.
“Matheson was one of the first Postal Service transportation suppliers to adopt alternative fuels and did so on its own initiative, helping to demonstrate to the Postal Service the viability of alternative fuels in the transportation of mail,” the nomination reads. “Since the 1990s, Matheson has maintained its commitment to alternative fuels and leadership in reducing emissions among Postal Service transportation suppliers.”
“In a remarkably short period of time, AJR Trucking has become a leading adopter of alternative fuels, significantly reducing its emissions and demonstrating that transportation companies of any size can effectively pursue green fleet practices,” AJR’s nomination states. “AJR Trucking is a remarkable example that green fleet initiatives can be pursued by trucking companies of all sizes.”
NSRMCA Executive Director Greg Reed praised both companies as “excellent examples of the postal contracting community’s increasing commitment to sustainable technologies and sound environmental practices.”
Matheson is a previous recipient of the Top Green Fleets award, having won in 2021.
HDT will announce the award winner in its November/December edition of HDT magazine and on its website: www.truckinginfo.com.
