November Class 8 Orders Leap 28 Percent

Orders for Class 8 tractors hit 41,732 units in November, a significant rise over last November, according to one report.

ACT Research cited “some pent-up demand remaining for tractors” for the 28 percent rise in orders when compared to November 2022. The organization outlined its findings Dec. 20 in its State of the Industry: NA Classes 5-8 report.

Curiously, much of the demand is “coming out of Mexico, where tractor orders were up over 150” percent year-over-year,” according to ACT President and Senior Analyst Kenny Vieth. He added that more Class 8 vehicles were also produced in November, despite two fewer work days this November.

Despite the increase in orders, Class 8 inventory levels rose 12 percent year over year, while Class 5-7 vehicle inventories “remain elevated,” Vieth noted.
