National Diesel Price Shoots Up
After a few weeks of dips, the average price of diesel countrywide jumped 10 cents to $4.545.
Almost every region in the U.S. paid more at the pump during the week ending Oct. 23, according to the latest Energy Information Administration report.
The main culprit behind the nationwide increase was the Midwest; the region saw its average increase a whopping 25 cents to $4.554.
In the Rocky Mountains, fleets paid around nine cents more per gallon, driving the average price up to $4.754. Meanwhile, on the Gulf Coast, prices rose by about seven cents for a per-gallon price of $4.186.
Prices on the East Coast stayed mostly the same, increasing less than one cent to $4.408.
The West Coast was the week’s outlier, with the per-gallon price decreasing by six cents to $5.468.
Overall, the price of diesel is around 79 cents cheaper than a year ago at this time.
