McAbee Trucking Purchases All-Electric Box Truck
NSRMCA member McAbee Trucking recently purchased its first fully electric box truck.
McAbee Trucking announced the purchase of a battery-electric Workhorse W4 CC box truck following a successful demo period. Owner Lisa McAbee said that the purchase “aligns with our mission to adopt greener technologies while ensuring the high level of service that our customers, including the USPS, expect from us.”
The W4 CC is capable of running daily 120-mile round trips between Blacksburg, S.C., and Shelby, N.C., according to manufacturer Workhorse Group.
“We’re honored to see our electric truck in action, delivering mail on Star Carrier Routes,” said Ryan Gaul, President of Commercial Trucks at Workhorse. “McAbee Trucking and other early adopters are leading the charge, demonstrating that transitioning to electric is a win-win solution. It achieves zero emissions goals while maintaining operational efficiency and reliability.”
NSRMCA Executive Director Greg Reed also hailed the purchase, saying it shows members’ commitment to “supporting the adoption of alternative fuels, including battery-electric solutions like McAbee Trucking’s Workhorse truck. This step is in line with the Postal Service’s commitment to reducing harmful emissions by transitioning to alternative fuel trucking fleets.”
