Group Reports More Women Truck Drivers in 2022

Women now make up nearly 14 percent of the truck driving community, according to a new report.

The percentage of female drivers increased to 13.7 percent in 2022, according to new data released July 26 by the Women in Trucking (WIT) Association in its WIT Index.

This is an increase from the 10 percent reported in the 2019 index, which itself was an increase from the 7.89 percent seen in 2018.

Ellen Voie, president and CEO of WIT, said in a statement that she anticipates the percentage to continue to increase in the coming years.

The data in the WIT Index is based on information gathered from 180 participating companies polled from January through April 2022.
