Former NSRMCA Attorney David Hendel Passes

The National Star Route Mail Contractors Association (NSRMCA) — which represents transportation firms that contract with the Postal Service — regretfully announces the passing of David Hendel, a longtime legal advocate for postal contractors.

Hendel, a partner at law firm Culhane Meadows, passed away on July 1 at age 67. Hendel was a mainstay of the association, serving at various times as NSRMCA’s attorney, while also representing many association members on legal matters. An expert in postal contracting law, he spoke at numerous NSRMCA events and wrote The Star Carrier’s Legal Corner column for many years.

Current and former NSRMCA officials shared their remembrances of Hendel.

NSRMCA Executive Director Greg Reed noted that “David’s joy for life, his family, and this industry was both apparent and infectious. If ever there was someone that lived well from end to end, it was David.”

Association President Jack Khudikyan said that “David’s memory will live on for a long time due to the work he has done for the industry. He always worked for the little guy and made sure it was fair for them to keep serving.”

Former Association President John Sheehy remarked that “Dave was a fantastic advocate for the industry, a knowledgeable attorney, a great advisor and most importantly: a wonderful person and friend. He will be missed. Rest in peace, my friend!”

Hendel leaves behind a wife, two sons, a daughter and three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Deer Valley YMCA Family Camp - Deer Valley Conservancy.
