FMCSA Removes Third ELD From List in February

Federal regulators have delisted a third electronic logging device (ELD) since Feb. 1, with the latest one being the ONE PLUS ELD.

The device was removed from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) list of approved devices as of Feb. 8, according to a release. Fleets using the product have until April 10 to switch devices.

Like the other two removed earlier in the month, the ONE PLUS device, now known as 1 PL Logs, failed to meet the FMCSA requirement that an ELD without a printer “be designed so that the display may be reasonably viewed by an authorized safety official without entering the commercial motor vehicle.”

Drivers currently using the device should discontinue using it and revert to paper logs or logging software to record their hours of service, according to the notice. After April 10, vehicles risk being placed out of service if they’re still using the ELD.
