FMCSA Looks To Slash 2024 Registration Fees
Federal regulators plan to reduce the annual fees paid by motor carriers in registration year 2024.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is looking to reduce the fees by 9 percent, according to a March 16 proposal in the Federal Register.
The 2024 registration fee would range anywhere from $37 to $35,836, depending on the number of trucks owned. The reduction comes from a recommendation by the Unified Carrier Registration Plan and Agreement, according to the proposal, which oversees and collects the fees for the 41 participating states.
Comparatively, the fees for registration year 2023 were reduced 31 percent from 2022. While no recommendation has been made for 2025, an increase is expected due to “the large fee decreases in previous years.”
