FMCSA Hikes 2025 Registration Fees
Federal regulators plan to substantially increase the annual fees paid by motor carriers during the next registration year.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) proposed a 25 percent bump in a Jan. 9 Federal Register notice. Carriers will now pay between $46 and $44,836, depending on the number of trucks owned.
The increase comes after two straight years of decreases: 9 percent last year and 31.2 percent the year prior. FMCSA previously anticipated raising the fees this year “because the funds from excess collections that required the two years of fee reductions would be largely utilized.”
The proposal is based on a recommendation from the Unified Carrier Registration Plan and Agreement, according to the notice, which oversees and collects fees from the 41 participating states.
