FMCSA Aims to Improve Driver Complaint Database

The Transportation Department’s trucking division is planning to make some notable changes to the National Consumer Complaint Database (NCCDB) and wants feedback.

Under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)’s proposal, the revised database would feature a more user-friendly interface to streamline the filing process when reporting violations.

It would also add categories of violators to select, such as brokers if a user has a broker-specific complaint, according to the Feb. 23 notice in the Federal Register.

The database enables both professional drivers and consumers to report issues such as harassment, violations of the Americans With Disabilities Act and disputes over Electronic Logging Devices.

The planned changes to the system were prompted — in part — by a previous round of public comments on the database. The FMCSA is accepting public comments on these proposed revisions through March 25.
