DOT Asks for Public Comment on Unneeded Regulations
The Department of Transportation (DOT) is looking to identify regulations that should be modified or repealed and is asking for help from the public.
The goal of the initiative is “to ensure that DOT administrative actions do not undermine the national interest and that DOT achieves meaningful burden reduction while continuing to meet statutory obligations and ensure the safety of the U.S. transportation system,” according to an April 3 Federal Register posting.
The request stems from the Trump administration’s goal of commencing “the deconstruction of the overbearing and burdensome administrative state,” which is laid out in a Feb. 25 executive order.
DOT requests comments provide as much supporting data as possible as well as specific suggestions regarding their opinion of a regulation or requirement.
Comments can be submitted until May 5, either online or by emailing transportation.regulatoryinfo@dot.gov with “Regulatory Reform RFI” in the subject line.
