Diesel Prices Spike More than 16 Cents

Diesel fuel prices jumped 16.4 cents per gallon last week after three weeks of decreases.

The nationwide average for diesel for the week ending on June 6 was $5.70 per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Agency. That’s almost $2.43 more than a year ago.

California continues to have the highest diesel prices in the country at $6.83 per gallon. Prices on the Gulf Coast are the lowest at nearly $5.31 per gallon.

Prices increased in every region except for New England and the Central Atlantic, which saw drops of around 3 cents each.

The region with the biggest price spike was the West Coast (excluding California) at nearly 33 cents per gallon. California’s increase was almost 29 cents. The West Coast as a whole saw a price jump of 30.7 cents.

In the Midwest, the price increased by 22 cents.
