Diesel Prices Rise for Seventh Week
On-highway diesel fuel prices rose for the seventh week in a row, hitting an average of $4.055 per gallon this week.
Continuing the upward trajectory in prices — which have been rising since the week of Jan. 10 — the national average for diesel this week climbed $0.036, the Energy Information Administration reported Feb. 22. The New England market saw the sharpest increase, climbing $0.069 for a total of $4.076 per gallon.
California continues to have the highest diesel prices in the country, rounding out the EIA’s list at $5.051 per gallon, up $1.312 from a year ago. Nationally, prices hovered around $1 at this time last year.
The only region that saw a decrease in prices this week was the West Coast (excluding California). The rest of the western region saw a tiny drop — $0.005 — in price this past week.
