Diesel Prices Inch Downward
The nationwide price of diesel was down for the fifth straight week, dipping by one cent.
That downtick left the country’s average price at $4.282, according to an Energy Information Administration (EIA) report.
The Rocky Mountain region had the largest drop — around six cents — taking the per-gallon price down to $4.498.
The West Coast’s average fell nearly four cents, with a gallon of diesel now costing $4.895 in the region. The East Coast saw a slightly lower drop of more than three cents, bringing the average to $4.409.
The Gulf Coast stayed at the exact same price as the week prior — $4.027 — while the Midwest actually saw a one-cent increase, which took the area’s average price to $4.131.
Overall, the price of diesel is $0.567 cheaper than a year ago at this time.
