Diesel Prices Fall Slightly
The price of diesel stumbled this week, dropping around two cents for an average of $4.524.
While the national average decreased for the week of Jan. 16, some regions of the country did see an uptick in price, according to an Energy Information Administration (EIA) report.
The East Coast saw the largest drop — six cents — with the region’s per-gallon price falling to $4.752.
The West Coast’s average took around a four-cent hit, leaving the area’s price at $5.034, while a gallon of diesel in the Midwest now costs $4.374 after around a one-cent fall.
The Rocky Mountain region withstood an increase of around three cents, sending the per-gallon price up to $4.729.
The Gulf Coast’s price basically stayed the same, only rising one one-thousandth of a cent to take the region’s average to $4.224.
In the bigger picture, the price of diesel is almost 80 cents higher than a year ago at this time.
