Diesel Prices Fall for Second Straight Week

The nationwide price of diesel fell again this week, declining around nine cents. 

That fall left the national average at $4.444, according to an Energy Information Administration (EIA) report, with every region seeing lower prices. 

Midwest consumers saw the steepest drop this week — more than 10 cents — with an average price of $4.274 a gallon. Gulf Coast and East Coast prices were close behind — both just a hair below 10 cents — dropping their per-gallon prices to $4.15 and $4.653, respectively. 

The Rocky Mountain region’s average fell to $4.66, an eight-cent fall from the week prior. 

The West Coast’s price tumbled around five cents, bringing the region’s gallon price to $5.033. 

Overall, the price of diesel is 42 cents more expensive than a year ago at this time.
