Diesel Prices Fall For First Time In Weeks

After two weeks of increases, the price of diesel fell across the country this week, dropping around eight cents.

That decrease left the national average at $4.539, according to the latest report from the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Every region of the country saw a price drop, with the Gulf Coast having the largest decline — 10 cents — which knocked the region’s average down to $4.249.

The Midwest experienced a slightly lower drop of just over nine cents, lowering the per-gallon price to $4.378.

On the East Coast, an eight-cent fall lessened the region’s average to $4.752. On the opposite side of the country, the West Coast’s average tumbled four cents, leaving the gallon price at $5.086.

The Rocky Mountain region stayed basically the same, with the price falling a tenth of a cent for an average of $4.741.

Overall, the price of diesel is around 59 cents more expensive than a year ago at this time.
