The Midwest’s per-gallon price dropped around 9 cents to close at $3.806, while East Coast retailers cut 8 cents from their prices, dropping the region’s weekly average to $3.969.

Gulf Coast diesel prices — already the lowest in the nation — averaged $3.569 for the week after dipping 7 cents.

Overall, the national average for diesel is down 70 cents from the same week last year.
