Diesel Prices Drop 16 Cents as Weeks-Long Trend Continues

The price of diesel is down to $5.268 as prices continue to nosedive. 

The national average for the week ending July 25 was down a little more than 16 cents from the week prior, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). 

All regions of the country saw a dive from last week’s prices, with the Gulf Coast having the highest decrease — just over 17 cents — for an average price of $4.911. The Midwest had a similar decline of nearly 17 cents for an average price of $5.241. 

A gallon of gas in the East Coast region now averages $5.299, a fall of nearly 17 cents, while the Rocky Mountain region saw a drop of almost 16 cents to an average price of $5.389. 

The West Coast’s prices fell around 13 cents for an average of $5.982 per gallon. 

California still has the highest prices in the country with a gallon of diesel costing $6.389 in the state, despite a nearly 13 cent-drop from the week prior. 

Overall, the average price of diesel is $1.926 more than at this time last year.
