Diesel Prices Continue to Plummet, Falling 10 Cents

The price of diesel is down to $5.568, continuing a weeks-long downward trend. 

The national average for the week ending July 11 dropped 10 cents from the week prior and was well off the mid-June peak of $5.81, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA). 

Every region of the country saw diesel prices fall in the last week, with the Gulf Coast seeing an 11-cent decrease, tied for the most of any area, for an average price of $5.217. 

The East Coast also fell around 11 cents, leaving the average gallon price sitting at $5.60. 

The Midwest and West Coast regions both had around a 10-cent decrease, dropping the average price per gallon to $5.542 and $6.285, respectively. 

The Rocky Mountain region’s prices fell less than 6 cents for an average gallon price of $5.674. 

California continues to set the bar for diesel prices in the country, with each gallon costing $6.665 after an 11-cent decrease from the week prior. 

The average price of diesel is still $2.23 more expensive than a year ago at this time.
