Diesel Prices Continue to Escalate
The average price of diesel jumped once again this week, rising nearly 14 cents to $4.378.
Double-digit increases occurred in every region of the country, according to a report from the Energy Information Administration.
The West Coast region rose the highest for the week — around 17 cents — bringing the per-gallon price to $5.086.
On the other side of the country, East Coast fleets paid an average of $4.402 for a gallon, a 15-cent increase from the week prior. The Gulf Coast’s average now sits at $4.095 after an increase of around 13 cents.
The Midwest saw an increase of around 12 cents, bringing the region’s per-gallon price to $4.317, while the Rocky Mountain’s prices rose 10 cents to $4.394.
Overall, the price of diesel is about 53 cents cheaper than a year ago at this time.
