Diesel Down 9 Cents Nationally
Diesel prices plummeted nine cents this week to $4.454 per gallon.
The dropoff — which was seen in all regions of the country, according to an Energy Information Administration report — helped ameliorate the prior week’s 10-cent price hike.
West Coast prices tumbled an average of 12 cents to $5.348 a gallon, more than any other region. Midwest diesel charges weren’t far behind, with prices falling more than 11 cents to $4.441.
The Rocky Mountain region came in third, with diesel prices dropping over 10 cents to close at $4.650. On the Gulf Coast, diesel costs fell 7 cents to $4.115 for a gallon.
East Coast prices saw the least movement, with a gallon of diesel costing 6 cents less at $4.342.
Overall, a gallon of diesel is about 86 cents cheaper than it was this time last year.
