Diesel Costs Tumble Over 9 Cents

Diesel prices fell sharply this week to $4.498 a gallon nationally, a drop of more than 9 cents.

Prices at the pump dropped in every region of the country for the week ending Oct. 9, according to an Energy Information Administration report.

The Gulf Coast experienced the most dramatic drop of the week, with prices falling 14 cents to $4.139 per gallon. The West Coast was a distant second, with its per-gallon price falling over 9 cents to $5.60.

The East Coast’s average price fell to $4.458, a drop of more than 8 cents. In the Midwest, prices fell around 7 cents to close at $4.376 for the week.

Rocky Mountain prices fluctuated the least, dropping around 6 cents to $4.717 a gallon.

On an annualized basis, diesel is around 72 cents cheaper than it was this time last year.
