DeJoy Stepping Down as Postmaster General

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced his planned departure after nearly five years in the post.

DeJoy wrote a Feb. 17 letter to the USPS Board of Governors asking them to select his successor while also reflecting on his accomplishments, saying his “tenure has been one of high expectations and vigorous action.”

“I will be flexible in helping with this transition, and I am confident that with a period of dedicated focus preparing for this change, the Postal Service will be well positioned for future success under the new leadership,” DeJoy stated in a Feb. 18 release

In the release, Amber McReynolds stated that she and her fellow governors “greatly appreciate [DeJoy’s] enduring leadership and his tireless efforts to modernize the Postal Service and reverse decades of neglect.”

The board of governors, along with other stakeholders, will begin immediately identifying candidates for DeJoy’s replacement, according to the release.
