C.H. Robinson Gets Into Driverless Vehicle Game With Waymo Partnership
Postal carrier and logistics firm C.H. Robinson is teaming up with an autonomous driving company to test driverless freight service.
The partnership with Google-affiliated autonomous driving company Waymo will involve pilot programs running loads between Dallas and Houston, according to a Feb. 16 release from Waymo.
The vehicles will pair the Waymo Driver autonomous driving technology with C.H. Robinson’s Navisphere logistics platform to “mutually explore the practical application of autonomous driving technology in logistics and supply chains,” according to C.H. Robinson’s release on the deal.
Texas has become a hotspot for tech companies testing driverless vehicles, due in part to the state legalizing certain driverless vehicles. FedEx announced plans to test its own autonomous vehicles on the same Dallas-to-Houston route back in September.
