CARB Allocates Funding for Transition to Zero-Emission
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is allotting hundreds of millions of dollars to assist in the transition to a zero-emissions future.
Out of $600 million total, $80 million will go toward zero-emission drayage trucks and $14.3 million in vouchers will go toward helping small fleets, the board announced.
For the drayage operators, their transition away from diesel begins in 2024. By 2045, all trucks and heavy-duty engines sold in California must be emission-free.
In a statement, CARB Chair Liane Randolph noted that the state’s planned zero-emission future is “only possible if every Californian has access to new and emerging vehicle technology.”
According to CARB, there are currently more than 500 models of zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. The release also said that California has already exceeded its sales goals for these vehicles two years ahead of schedule.
