March 01, 2023
President Joe Biden has officially announced his nominee to be the next head of the Department of Labor: Julie Su.
The deputy secretary of labor since 2021, Su was previously California’s labor secretary and the state’s labor commissioner.
In a Feb. 28 release, the president called Su a “tested and experienced leader” and a “champion for workers.”
Biden asked the Senate to act quickly on Su’s nomination.
Marty Walsh, the preceding labor secretary, resigned from his post to be executive director of the National Hockey League Players’ Association.
