Average Diesel Price Drops 5 Cents
Diesel prices across the country continue to fall, with the national average down five cents for the week ending Oct. 3.
The drop brought the price down to $4.836, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA) report.
While all regions of the country saw a price decline, the Gulf Coast saw the biggest drop — nearly seven cents — leaving the region’s average price at $4.557. The Midwest was a close second, dropping just over six cents to $4.819.
The East Coast had a nearly four-cent decline, meaning the region’s average diesel price is down to $4.797. On the other side of the country, the West Coast’s average fell around three cents, with a gallon of diesel in the region now costing $5.535.
The Rocky Mountain region saw a minimal decrease — under two cents — for an average price of $4.870.
A gallon of diesel remains more expensive than a year ago at this time: $1.359 more, to be exact.
